my tractor has the original vane pump. it had ford 134 hydralic fluid. was told to try 90 wt gear oil because after it got hot the lift quit. i changed o-rings etc. tried 90 wt. well it was good, just lasted alittle longer on getting hot, 30 minutes quit. checked on price of vane pump it was to much, checked on all the work required to change to piston pump. this will probably work in hot climates (texas) only. i bought some 90W140 gear oil. you would think i had a new tractor. works perfect, you have to wait a few minutes for it to warm up, when first started. maybe this will help if you dont want to spend money on new pump.

I can relate my experience from earlier this year -similar problem to you. I have a 1954 Naa which I use for utility work as well as raking hay. This spring I noticed trannny oil had moisture in it as I used the tractor drawing wood last winter and it was outside alot more than usuaal in the winter. I changed tranny oil, and decided to change hyd. oil too as it had been in awhile. At this point my 3 pt. lift and hyd.'s worked fine and I had done some digging with a rear scoop this spring as well as spreading crushed stone. Replaced hyd. oil with a universal hyd oil that claimed to meet Ford 134c-d spec.'s and then had no hyd. After trying to prime hyd. by preessurizing the dipstick hole and pointing tractor downhill running to no avail, I suspected the new oil was the culprit. Replaced the new oil with premium hyd. which specified not only 134c&d but the old ford spec.'s called for in the manual and immediately had my hydraulics back. I would suggest a thinner oil for winter if you get much below 45-50 degrees, this is what the oem spec's call for.

Be sure you are using 90 wt. GL-1 Mineral oil not just gear oil. It has anti foaming agents in it. If memory serves me your tractor calls for 90 wt summer and 80 wt. winter. These specs are for the southern plains. We use 80/90 GL-4 or GL-5 for all the NAA thru 700 to 901 series.

Don't know how cold it gets down there in Texas, but don't expect that lift to work in much below 50 degrees or so. That stuff gets thicker than maple syrup then.
