Well I have been Green all my life, but I found a 600 looking kind of sad in this old boy shed, It has been setting for about 12 yrs, I offered him 300.00 for it, and he said ,OK. It still had antifreeze in the raditor the engine oil was clean , rear end also, Air up the tires, pulled out, I let the clutch out on it and the oil pressure came to 30 # raised the lever on the 3 point and it came up , been 4 days and the 3 point is still up, I am tuning it up now and putting a new kit in the carb,Hope to have it running soon. Are these good tractor?

A 640 is a good tractor at any price. Paid 10 times that much for grandpa's 56 model & was glad to get it.(sentimental value aside). You probably should take the old boy a 6 pack of beer and maybe out for a steak diner. Does he have anything else he wants to sell?

Yes he has a model 55 J.D, combine, square back with cab under a shed. Located south of San Antonio Texas. E Mail me or leave a # I do not know what he is asking, he would not give me a price when I asked him.

I agree with tlak. At $300, it's a great tractor!

If you look below the air cleaner on the top of the transmission you will find the serial number and model. 600 is the series and the number you find is the model like 640. I have a 641 which the one at the end just makes it a newer model. Desirable tractors for the weekender and small farm or 2nd backup. $300 was a steal
