Well to all you who helped me determine that I had to split the case to fix the broken roll pin holding the fork on the shift rail INSIDE the bell housing..... ...
We separated the tractor which split the case and replaced the roll pin with a 13 pt hard bolt and two nuts and put the tractor together all in one day. It wasn't all that bad and gave me the opportunity to check the entire tractor for loose hoses, nuts and bolts and change all the fluids.
Also we took up some adjustment on the brake rods by threading up the rods a bit with a 7/16 die thus eliminating what I thought was a needed brake job.
Anyway thanks to you all for the encouragement and help.

If you had to run a die up those brake rod adjusters, you may well have done yourself a disservice. Assuming there was no other significant wear in the linkage, if the adjustment was all used up before you made new threads, then that means that the linings would almost have to be about shot. If they are not making noise now (metal to metal), my guess is they soon will be. If I were you, I'd pay real close attention for not only unusual noises in the brakes, but also differences in grabbing action also. Last thing you want is a bunch of metal running around in the rear end.
