On my 3000, there is a little flat lever under the seat , on the right side. What does that do? Thanks , Paul.

Here is a posting of mine, from about 4 months ago, I think that it answers your question.
----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- --
Sounds like your hitch is in "draft mode". (1) Locate the "mode control lever". It is near the "quadrant" (the thing that holds the "touch control" lever) and is just about under the seat. It is located near the top of the hydraulic housing (on the right side) and is about 3 inches long. On your tractor, it should be pointing down (perpendicular to the ground). Rotate it into the "position control" mode by moving it CCW (it sould be parallel to the ground now). (2) Basically, in "position control" mode, the position of the touch control lever dicates the position of the 3-point hitch. In "draft control" mode, the touch control lever is used to postion the implement on the hitch relative to the ground. Then the feedback from the implement (to the 3-point hydraulics) causes the 3-point to move such that the implement remains at constant depth relative to the position of the tractor to the ground. (Look at the top hitch point at the housing and see the rod that is surrounded by the large coil spring -- that is the feedback "circuit") You would use this mode for a plow, but not for a blade (although I have). Also, as you know, in "draft mode" the 3-point is very sensitive to the touch control. (3) There are several discussions of this mehcanism and modes of operation on this forum.

My lever points forward or vertical. The big spring is enclosed on mine. I appreciate the helpful posts here. I appreciate the time it takes to answer inquiries.

I agree with Chuck. It sounds like your talking about the lever that engages the draft control. I used it on my 3000 for plowing.

Thanks for posting. The 3000 I'm fixing up is a low center of gravity tractor. I have a steep pasture. I used to mow it with a dozer years ago.

I might need to use that lever in case this 3pt. assy. that I'm putting on doesn't work!

That lever switches operation from position control (lift arms move and hold position corresponding to control position) to Draft control (varies depth of tool engagement for constant drag force)

Thank you for taking time to post. Since I'll be using a rotary mower, I won't need the draft control feature. I just got finished transferring the 3pt. assy. from a "junk" tractor to the one I'm going to use.
The tubes from the oil supply to the pump are on order. I hope the 3pt. assy. works.
