On My 1700 the rear differental lever is stuck in the down position I cant pull it up by pulling it and I am not to keen on using leverage type tools. It is not locked in ( both wheels do not spin) any help out there on what the fix may be? Thanks in advance. Ross

The shaft is seized in the case. If it is not currently locked in and you have no intention of ever using it, then leave it there. If you need to free it up, it will likely come down to removing the 3 point lift cover so you can disconnect the internals and drive the shaft out. Also, check the condition of the engagement pegs of the clutch while you are looking in there. These like to wear. It maybe why the pedal is down and yet it doesn't work.

It's been many years since I've been into one of these. Seems to me that the shaft was sealed by an o-ring on the shaft itself, and I don't recall that there was a bushing for it. What you need to do once you get the shaft out is clean everything up real well with emory cloth and then anti-seize the parts before you put it back together.

Repair manuals should be available from your local New Holland dealer. You can order either the factory original manual, or an I&T manual for a lot less money.
