My tractor Ford 800 just stopped working today. I need the thing to do a little more work around here before winter hits for real, so I'm looking for "sage advice"(tm). I'm about 99% sure it's the clutch (press the clutch, put it in gear, let out the clutch and tractor moves slowly or not at all). I'm not much of an auto-repair kind of guy, I'll do pugs, oil and work on the starter, but pulling the beast in half to get at the clutch sounds like a little too much for me ;-) I don't have much time so my best option seems to be to take it to the local ford/new holland shop. But, don't have a clue what a clutch relacement should cost - so I won't know how far I'm being taken to the cleaners ;-) I could have someone come here, but the same problem applies. So I take it to the shop? try to find someone to come to the farm and work on it? It's not very rural round here anymore, so I don't know if I can find a tractor mechanic to just come on over. Thanks for any help and advice.
