Does anyone have experiance with the Elect.ign conversions, any good? I also would like to know where I could find a foot feed for my Golden Jubilee. They seem pretty rare, are they? Love this site: Finally found some people that know more than I do about the Jubilee's. Thanks!!!

Hi Bill, I converted my 1962 Ford 841 4x4 tractor to Electronic Ignition and to a 12 Volt Generator system back around 1997 when Pertronics first came out with their conversion kit , I love it, all my gas tractors are converted the same way and they have never failed me yet. I also have done many conversions for my customers and they love it too . I wrote an article for the 9N-2N-8N-NAA NEWSLETTER about both conversoins in the SUMMER 1999 newsletter issue . I live in Mass. so we get some cold winters , last year the coldest day we had was 30 below zero and they started like it was 30 above zero . Thanks Tony Jacobs

I'd like to put a foot throttle on my 2000 diesel too. The only machines I've seen the foot throttle as standard on are the Ford Industrial tractors. Maybe one of the tractor breakers' yards will have one that will fit.

I have a foot pedal on my 850. I assume it would be the same one as for a Jubilee. Mine doesn't work worth a hoot. Haven't had time to look too closely at it. Seems like there's too much flex in the linkages.....they seem to bend rather than transfer motion to the throttle linkage. Maybe some adjusment there that I'm missing. I don't know where you find one. This one was on the tractor when I bought it.

Hey Jim UT, Is your foot throttle pedal an oval shaped unit that is hinged under the running board , unlike the picture of the Dowden Foot Throttle for the 8N where the hinge is actually attached to the pedal , I have one on my 62 841 and was suppose to have been for a Jubilee , and I am removing it so I can install a Ford Industrial pedal assembly , Mine does work quite well though after minor adjustments and tweaking to get it just right . Thanks Tony Jacobs

As for the electronic ignition, head over to the N Board and check the archives! There is all sorts of info there.

The Dowden foot throttle came out as an after-market add on for the 8N, but has been modified and attached to lots of other Ford models.
This may be why Jim has found his unreliable, as the linkages most probably had to be changed somewhat to fit.
I can not find a 'New' dealer anywhere and I have been looking.
I want one too!!!

In looking at the pic the first thing that jumps out at me is that the N foot pedal is on the same side of the tractor as the carb, so that all the motion of the linkage is more or less on one plane. On the later tractors the carb is on the left side of the engine and that seems to be where the transfer of motion gets lost on mine...trying to convert up and down motion of the pedal to side to side motion (east-west) as it transfers over to the other side of the tractor, then changing directions again to north-south to the throttle linkage at the carb. I may have to rig the pedal to the right side of the tractor but I see problems there, too. One, using the left foot for throttle action seems unnatural for an american. Two, assuming I could overcome the first problem, I'd be using my clutch foot to push the accelerator pedal....not sure that's good practice. Thanks for the pic!
