What is the woth of a restored Ford 501 sikle bar mower with pitman drive. I have one that we bought about 3 years ago from our neighbor who restored it and put new sections on it. I asked him the other day what he thought it was now worth and he said about $275, which is what I paid for it. He also said that they don't go down much in price. I was thinking of selling it on E-bay with a reserve of $275. It is still in excellent shape and has only been used for trimming around ditches and the edges of fields. If anyone is interested contact me in the next few days because I am going to put it on E-bay soon. Thanks for your help. Adam Davis

I think 275 is a very good price. I have been shopping for one in Connecticut and see them range from 250 (John Deere #9) up to $650 for a Ford 501 in mint shape. Note that in the Northeast and things tend to be pricey-

There's a fellow in my home town that used to be an implement dealer until he went out of business. He still has some leftover used inventory he'd like to sell, including 2 or 3 Ford 501 mowers. When he was still in business he was asking about $1600 for the best one! Any wonder why he went out of business? Anyway, he still has it and I think is asking $1,000 now. He has others not in as nice of shape. I think the lowest is $800. If it's as nice as you say, I'd say $275 isn't a bad price. Tough selling stuff like that on ebay because the freight is so iffy. Good luck. If you want to see the mowers I've been talking about check the link:
