After trying everything I could think of and all your suggestions, I called the FNH service dept and had them fax me a picture of the oiling system. It says right in there that oil holes in the camshaft have to be lined up with holes in the block in order for oil to get to the overhead. With each revolution of the cam a squirt of oil goes to the rocker arm shaft. Problem was, I wasn`t turning the engine and the holes weren`t aligned, so no oil. When I lined them up, presto!, there was the oil. Only burned about 10 hours solving that beast. Oh well, tuition in the school of experience. Now on to sheet metal work.
Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Yes I'm greatful never heard of that before. All eng. I overhauled never worked like that. I'm also an unwilling student of the school of "hard knocks". The tuition is darn high sometimes.
