there seem to be some vintage backhoes that are available. Short articles appear in the 9N-2N-8N-NAA Newsleter. Vol.13 Number Spring 1998. a short article on the Wayne Roy digger...caption says it's simple but it works. Vol. 13 Number 1 Winter 1998: Nice article on the Sherman Power Digger. I have a Sherman backhoe on an 850. I aquired the backhoe from from Tony Jacobs. It works fine and it will dig a hole 10 feet deep and as wide as I want. It came with a 20" and an 8" bucket. I find it useful for a lot of digging jobs. And, like you, I hade no experience with backhoe operation, but with some practice it is an easy implement to handle and operate. It beats a wheelbarrow and shovel. Your 600 Series tractor should handle the backhoe just fine. I've seen em' on 8N's too. If you have a front loader on your tractor, you will find that with the added ballast of the backhoe, steering will become easier too. good luck. tm
