The tractor wont start. it was running good when the troubles started.the front bucket was let down too fast and it jolted the tractor.
Now it wont start. We changed the spark plugs and
wires we also put new points in.The timing marks
looks to be ok. It still wont start.
Is there any thing else i can do or check to get it running?
thanks.

I have a 1952 model 8N Ford 4 cylinder Tractor. I have owned it for 22 years and have never changed the points and wires. I have changed the plugs. Recently, my tractor has been acting up. It stalls after running for a half hour, and it will not want to start up until it gets about 45 minutes rest. I think I may need to change the wires and points, and I know kits are available. My question is How do I change them? Can I go to a site that will explain the steps? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Tony

If it died suddenly instead of sputtering to a stop, it's probably electrical. One item to check for continuity is the wire that comes off of the coil, goes around the front of the engine, and back along the left side towards the starter selenoid. Something may have snagged it when the bucket came down causing a break in it. And with the age of the wire it wouldn't be hard to do. The one on our 2000 broke off at the coil. We replaced the entire harness.

Start from scratch again. Fuel, spark, compression. By the jolt, you may have moved the battery and shorted something out. By the way, the 2000 wasnt built until 1963, think you may have a 600series.

Maybe the engine was reversed real fast; and,
stripped the timing chain or gear.
