I want to adjust the valves on a 3000 diesel which sounds straight forward enough in the manual. But how do you tell which are intake and which exhaust. And what does "go" "no go" mean? Do I even deserve a tractor if I have to ask questions like this? Thanks and bear with me.

Hello,
The way I tell the intake from the exhaust is the one that is inline with the intake manifold where it connects to the head is the intake and the exhaust in the same way. The go no go is that when it is adjusted properly the no go will not fit between the top of the valve and the rocker arm. The go gauge will. On the gas version the valves were supposed to be adjusted with the motor running. Hope I haven't muddied the water too much. Mark

Mark, that completely answered my question and is the way I finally decided which was which. I figured out the go no go pretty quick. My manual also calls for the valves to be adjusted with the engine running. Thanks
