The 1965-1975 2000 & 3000 both have the 158 ci (157.95)3cyl engine. The gas engine HP ratings are 36 for the 2000 & 47 for the 3000. (tractortips.com) How was this done?

I've been away. Now that I am back, just wanted to know if it would be possible to increase the 2000 to 3000 HP.
The HP rating on www.tractortips.com were probably brake engine HP like the automobile ratings. Not common for farm tractors though. This site also has the drawbar HP ratings. Thanks

According to my owners manual I have a 172 cubic inch diesel engine on my 3000. The 2000 has a 158.

Those HP ratings cannot be right. In the book "Ford & Fordson Tractors Buyer's Guide" by Pripps, a table in the back has some of the Nebraska Tractor Test results. The 3000 test in 1965 (for a diesel) - test # 881 - gives Max HP Belt.PTO as 39.2, and Max Drawbar as 32.3. Pretty sure the diesel produced a little more HP than the gas.
The 1967 test of the gas 2000 - test # 959 - has Max HP Belt/PTO as 31.2 and the Max Drawbar HP as 27.5.

AS I remember when I first checked on the differences between the 2000 and 3000, what I found was that the 2000 was rated at 1900rpm and the 3000 at 2000rpm. When you look in the parts book (I have the Ford set) there is NO difference in the engines. I don't know if the govenor on the 2000 is set to limit the max rpm or not - could be so that is why the Nebraska tests show a difference.

Will have to check my references at home.

Regards,
Larry

I'm home and here is what the operators manual says;

2000 gas... 158 cu.in. rated rpm 1900 2110 diesel 158 cu.in. rated rpm 2000
3000 gas... 158 cu.in. rated rpm 2100
3000 diesel 175 cu.in. rated rpm 2000

I also found a sales brochure from around 1970.
It has no 2110 model in it but here is what it
claims for the HP rating - with an * that says
"Manufacturer's estimate, maximum observed PTO horsepower."

2000 Gas... 30 HP
3000 Gas... 37 HP
3000 Diesel 38 HP

I DON'T HAVE MY 2000-5000 OWNERS MANUEL IN FRONT
OF ME, SINCE I'M AT WORK. BUT AS A GENERAL COMMENT
IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF REASONS. THE TRACTOR MFG
INDUSTRY HAS SEVERAL TRICKS. 1 - RATED AT DIFFERENT RPM'S (1E 2000 RPM VERSE 2200 RPM)
2 DIFFERENT JETS IN THE CARB.(DIESELS DIFF FUEL
INJECTORS)3- DIFFERENT COMPRESSION. SOME GOOD
EXAMPLES OF NEWER MODELS FORD(NH)1997-99 3930 45 PTO HP 192 CID NA,4630 55 PTO HP 192CID TURBO
SAME MOTOR BUT ADD OF A TURBO. 2355 AND 2555 JD'S
NATURAL ASPIRATED 2355 55 PTO HP, 2555 65 PTO HP DIFF FUEL INJECTORS (2555 ALSO CAME WITH TURBO OPTION LOWER RPM 2300 VERSE 2500 ON NA ENGINE)
