We've come upon a 1975 2000 gas airforce tug (probably). Model No B1027B s/n 2447814, FSN 24204119928. it has a shuttle 4 speed that won't run in reverse. Is this something that's fixable, or not worth it? It has no clutch, just one brake pedal, no pto, no threepoint, knobby tires, heavy grille, big cab, special seat, some electronics box where the battery should be, a hook mechanism on front end, solid wide axle, power steering. Thinking of buying it to parts out. Doesn't seem very useful as is.

cdmn-

Your model # seems strange. Check the link for a really good ID page. No lift and no PTO doesn't make it much of a tractor, unless you like John Deere :-). The motor, cab, and power steering are probably worth something though. E-mail me if you decide to sell the power steering.

Cheers,
bjt

Looks like the model number would be B1021F. Bad trifocals, I guess.

Hmmm... if it's really a B10xxx then it should have come from the factroy with a three point hitch. Does it look like it's been butchered/removed?

If you're lucky, you will find a sitcker on the underside of the hood on the battery side that has the important numbers on it. Under that sticker, you'll find the original color. What color is it now?

I crawled in with a flashlite and looked myself. My previous information was secondhand. I have a 1971 3000, and it looked pretty much the same. The grille is kind of a wire mesh of maybe 3/16 wire. The tag under the hood is there. If my notes are right, the model number shows B1021B, but from the tractor number pad, I wrote down B21021F. (now I wonder about that first "2") date code: 4F20B, s/n C447814. The Unit No is 5A31B, Axle no. 3K08B. The spaces for Hyd Pump and Hyd Lift are x'd (or starred) out. The engine number is scratched out. On the block, the engine no.: 13694992, on the front flange, G, 60L08, 4M17B. Inside the cab is the Airforce plate, which I didn't copy, but interestingly, the space for engine serial number says "N/A". I forgot to check if it's 24 volt. The front "hitch" looks like a cobbled up affair, probably not mil-spec at all. The rear end has a big round "bumper" for weight. Cab is basically a big box with a rear door, and a sideways mounted seat on top of a tool box, I think. To me, the driver's seat looked just like a std tractor, like on my 3000. Actually, I don't think anything is "Industrial", except the shuttle transmission. If this can be upgraded to hydraulics, pto, and 3 point, maybe it's worth fixing? Hope I haven't added confusion.
