I have a chance to buy this machine from a friend and I would like to know what a fair price is for it. It has a loader and a hoe no ROPS, (open seating.) starts well good tires, the seal on the rear wheel just started to leak, breaks need new liners, Does this have disk brakes? it has power steering and it leaks. the front engine seal leaks, he said to drop the pan to replace, not sure if he just means put a new gasket on the oil pan... main cyclinder on hoe leaks- rod bent repacked but still leaks. how much is a new main cyclinder? it comes with manuals and new packings for the front bucket. the paint is very poor. any info to talk me into or out of this deal would be helpful. Thanks a lot. this is a great service. I also have a mini 1994 kubota kx41 excavator with 2k hours that I bought last year. I love the machine. best thing I ever bought I am a little worried about how big and long this super major is compared to my mini excavator that I'm use to.

Hi Ryan! The major is hard to get parts for and the backhoe will be even worse. A bare tractor in the shape you described would probably be a $3-4000 machine max. And the backhoe/loader really wouldn't add a whole lot. It's not a real production machine compared with today's backhoes.

Jim, Thanks for the info. I think I may offer him $1,500 for the machine. Where might be my best source for parts? Is the Ford 5000 related to the Super Major in any way?

Should I be calling this a Fordson Super Major diesel instead of a Ford? What is the history of Fordson?
