It's easy....drain the fluid and remove the access covers. Be careful...that sucker is heavier than it looks!

You will have to slide the pto shaft out of it too (I think yours is exactly like my 8N).

You will quickly see the BEAUTY of these old tractors..... Their mechanical systems are sooooo
S I M P L E. Like any mechanical job.. I garontee that you will have more trouble with stuff like stripped-out threads or rounded-off bolt heads than ANY of the actual mechanical workings.

When removing the pump, it will not drop directly down. You have to pull it back slightly to disengage it, then drop it down. Don't try to force anything as the pump is aluminum. My $.02

What the Cap'n didn't tell ya is on teh 9 and 2 N the control valve MUST be disconnected outta the linkage, or you will bust something. It is kinda a wishbone affair, and you need to spring the linkage by pulling each side so the valve can slip out. It is best done by pulling the PTO shif cover and the Oil check cover off, and going thru there. It helps if you have smaller hands than mine, as mine always seem almost stuck before I get them free...DOn't forget to drain oil, pull PTO shaft, then drop the pump. On my tractor I'd be pulling the top cover and going thru the whole system at once so I don't have to worry about it again.Get a manual- F0 - 4 I and T manual.
