Does anyone know the "correct" paint code for the yellow that was used on the 2000 Industrial back in 1962?? There are a wide variety of yellows available at the N-H dealer but, none look like the correct one. The tractor we have is reported to be one of the first of the "new" 2000 series that year because of it's a "redbelly", (last of the 600's), with yellow sheetmetal. Unfortunately some bonehead painted over ALL the yellow sheetmetal with some sort of red paint (and did it with a brush!) which makes it difficult to obtain a good sample of the original yellow.

Jeff , Unfortunately you may have one of the last RED/YELLOW Ford Industrial Tractors , The first year of this color combination was around December 1960 for the 1961 model year. If your serial number is around 177,000 or less you have one right near the end of production in June 1962 , Which is when they changed over to BLUE/GRAY and BLUE/YELLOW Tractors. Thanks Tony Jacobs

We were told it's a '62. The numbers on it are 20313S with 159455 under that. And I think the red/yellow color combo is great looking. At least it ain't GREEN with YELLOW letters! ;) How ya doing up there in Mass? Buried in snow yet?

Jeff, I have a 20313 mod. 165395 ser.no. lcg. The sheet medal is a light gray and castings are red. I prefer the gray to the original pale yellow, so I just pretend that it's 640. Is your hood the same style as 600 series? Mine has place for round medallion, but no madallion. Wondering if hood is original. thanks

Yes, everything is original, the hood is the 600 series type and has the original medallion. It's the "grain of wheat" type with the word Industial across it. It was damaged on top so, a new one was bought and it came in without "Industrial" on it. We still have the dealer trying to locate an original for it. I see the serial numbers are 5,940 apart between our LCG's. Looks like you have the newer one. ;)
What area of CT are you located in?

Good question Fred, Why did they call them industrials? The LCG's have short front spindles and different tires which gave them the Low Center of Gravity title. Other than that I haven't found that much of a difference. Up there in the Canaan area huh, we were told there was a guy by the name of Gary (I think) somewhere in the Lakeville area that has a lot of tractor parts. Just in a couple of miles from Rt.22 up on a hill. We get our parts over in Pines Plains but haven't ventured over to the Lakeville area yet.
Take care, Jeff

Fred and Jeff , These tractors are called Industrials for the purpose in which they were designed for , Which being roadside mowing is more of an Industrial chore than a Farm use . All LCG's came with the shorter spindles, 12 inch Tires on the front and 8.3x24 dual rear rubber , which Jeff does not have and I do not think yours does either Fred ? . They also came with the Heavy Duty non-adjustable front end, which included the H-D front axle mount, and larger power steering cylinders, and H-D clutch. The rear fenders are also special shorter versions like the row crop tractors . Foot throttle was also standard equipment on them . So other than the paint, decals, and the hood emblem the rest is the same as any other tractor Ford built . Thanks Tony Jacobs

Tony, Thanks for the info. Feb.'62 explains why the other N-H dealers (close to us) couldn't figure out, or couldn't be bothered, as to what 2000 it was. We went to the dealer in upstate NY who took the time to research it a bit and basically came up with it being a 600 Workmaster / 2000 cross breed. Oh, We settled on a yellow paint for the sheet metal, GM Jamacia Yellow, and shot a few pieces today. I think it's going to look great against the Ford red chassis. Again, thanks for the info Jeff. (do you have a "secret" VIN number info that the dealers don't have?)

Hi Jeff, No secrets here , Just alot of original Ford information the dealers had 30 years ago and threw away, and now have to depend on newer less detailed info . Thanks Tony Jacobs

Well Tony, It's good to know you have all the useful data. I'll just ask you first instead of the dealer! ;) Later, Jeff

Hi Fred , I am wrong and you are right, LCG'S did have the adjustable front axle , with the shorter spindles, I was looking at a piece of 2000 Industrial literature, but not on the 2000 LCG page. Thanks Tony Jacobs
