I was wondering if someone could please give me advise?? A mate of mine in Australia just passed me on a message. He has a customer, who owns a working Fordson Super major , aprox 1965. the Tractor is quite unique, in that it is a loader, fitted with a Brockhouse Automatic transmission.Serial No 112714105. The Transmission was manufactured by Brockhouse manufacturing corp, West Bromwich. The vehicle has trouble selecting reverse drive. Now, 5 or 6 other people have had a go at it, with no sucsess. My mate wisely refused to look at it, untill he had some imfo,ie an exploded diagram, or clutch band adjusting imfo etc. He spent hours ringing around all available sources in Perth West Australia, and surrounding districts, to no avail. Can Anyone please offer advice?or fax, or scan details. My mates fax info in Australia 0061 8 99272794. Many thanks

I hope you are able to track down some information from the current owner of the Brockhouse transmission as supplied by Mr. JoeK.

If it's any help, the Ford model 5500 Tractor-Loader-Backhoe used a Brockhouse power reversing transmission from about 1967 to 1970. The torque converter was bolted together (could be disassembled for cleaning). It was supported inside the transmission housing by three spring loaded pins that popped out and locked inplace.

There is no similarity to the American made 10 speed selectospeed transmission.

It's described in an "Industrial Derivatives" Service Manual which is a supplemental volume to the 1965 to 74 model 2000 to 5000 agricultural tractor service manual.

Couple of references found re;brockhouse trannys..... Link

Looks>Link like Newage might be the one to contact. From what I've found they took over Brockhouse Transmissions in the 90s.

Is it possible that this is the same transmission that we call the Ford Selecto Speed in the USA?

It has two reverses and 10 forward and is actually a hydraulically shifted transmission and not a true automatic.
