How difficult is it to take the slop out of the steering wheel assembly? Tie rods and radius rods check out fine and are tight. But, the steering wheel turns about 1/8 turn before the front end radius rods and tie rods do their thing. Bill

Bill,
Adjusting the steering isn't all that hard, a couple of screws with lock nuts, getting to them will be fun though. I would recommend you get a shop manual and go through the procedures as described in the manual. That's the easiest way to do it right the first time, good luck.

It's as easy as doing a steering box on a car, only you have two screws instead of one. Just remember that the screw on the left takes the play out of the right side and vice-versa. Turn the screw in the least amount possible to remove the slack or you will get binding where the head of the stud is staked into the sector. If this happens it will gall the head and you will not be able to adjust it anymore and the wheel will end up with too much drag on it and will not center itself. Don't ask me how I know this.
