Sounds like you've slipped a selector, this means that the little cup the end of the gear stick sits in, is not how it should be and the gear stick has come out of its cup. All you need do is take your gearstck housing out, or find someway of getting at the selector mechanism and just put it back in the cup.

Brad,
I hope you've checked your fluid level lately, low fluid will slow you down too. Good luck.
Mike

Brad need some more info. Your heading says stuck in park but you were moving in reverse. Did it just stop moving on its on while in reverse or where you changing gears? There is a shaft that runs through a wheel in the shifter that your handle is conected to. This shaft can become loss on the wheel and will slip. Your handle and dial indicator will move but your not moving the cable. Hope this helps.

possible causes:

1. torque plate out on flywheel
2. hydraulic pump on input shaft shot
3. oil leak in tranny

All the preceding posts have good suggestions.
The detent on the sifter is on the control valve camshaft in the transmission. Can you feel the detents for each speed as you move the shifter? If so the shifter and cable are probably OK. Selectospeed park is not a pawl-into-gear park like a car automatic, it's the result of the transmission locking up when bands two and three are applied at the same time. These bands are applied with heavy springs and released with oil pressure. Band three is applied in low range and reverse gears, band two is applied in high range gears but when applied together they lock up the transmission. Anything that causes loss of transmission pressure allows the springs to apply these bands together and the transmission locks up. As LarryNCKS says, flywheel torque disc, tranmission pump, tranny leak can cause loss of trans pressure.
