I have a 1715 4x4 and am unable to engage any gear. Whenever I depress the clutch I hear a rather loud rushing sound which immediately stops when I release the clutch. I changed my fluid thinking I was low to no avail. I suspect I have a problem with the clutch but don't know where to begin. Any suggestions?

When you push clutch in and here rushing noise I wonder if its dry bearing sound. If the throwout bearing locks up or is trying to lock up it will start grinding the fingers off the pressure plate. If enough material is removed from the fingers or your bearing seperates your clutch will not be able to be released. I had a 1720 a while back and the rear bearing on the crankshaft was out this is also the thrust bearing. It had the same symtoms as above also. Either way it will have to be split.
