I have a 640 serial #76847,1955, I think. I looked on the rs engine under dip stick for casting # EAE or EAF, but what I found was 310609. someone said this was a part # for block. Can you tell the size engine by this #.I was also told to look on the ls front bottom of the block oil pan rail for a date the block was made. I found the letter c with f in it, followed by 89 m 2.I need a carb. for it,ordered one for 640 1955 134cid. It was way to small.Dealer said a carb for 801 172cid 1958-1959 might work.Any info will help.

Tim, It should be a 134, according to the book. The book only list 8 different models. Marvel-Schebler models tsx580 tsx593 tsx662 tsx692 tsx706 tsx765 tsx769 and tsx813. I hope this will help you. Goodluck John

John, my carb. doesn't have a tsx # tag on it. I did order the M.S. carb. for the 1955, 640 134cid, it would not match up with my manifold. I believe that my engine has been swapped out. I had the dealer to order the 801 carb. for the 172, to see if it would work. If it does bolt up to the intake, but it is a larger carb., will it cause a flooding problem.

You should be able to adjust it. May take a little work and patience.
