I'm trying to make my guages work in my 4000, and cannot locate the temperature sending unit. The manual hasn't been a bit of help. Since there were no wires of any kind behind the guage cluster when I bought the tractor, I couldn't retrace the old wires. Can anyone point me in the right direction?? I know it must be near the front of the block, but I don't see it.....

Thanks,
MS

On my 69' 3000 3 cyl dsl, the temp sender is in the front at the top just next to the thermostat housing. It is in a spot where it can be completely covered in grease and grime, so you might need to do some cleaning to uncover it. The oil pressure sender is on the side just below and in front of the filter.

From the scant info you provided, I am guessing you have a 3cylinder 4000. The temp sender is threaded into the front of the head just to the right of the thermostat housing. 4 cylinder 4000's use a mechanical gauge threaded into the right rear corner of the head.

Check the right rear of the head - on a '64 Diesel anyway.
