I am looking at a 1710 Ford tractor and don't know anything about this moodel at all. I want to use the tractor on a 6ft finish mower for general mowing. The tractor is a 1985 and only has 400 hours on it. Is the 1710 a desent tractor for this, and were there any major defects in this model? What is a fair price on this tractor? Any help would be appreicated.Thank you.

Sam,
I have a 4wd 1710 with a 770B loader that I have used for about 2 years now. Mine had 1100 hours on it when I got it, and I have had zero problems. I have mowed with it (5 ft), but now I use my old 8n for mowing and the 1710 for everything else. (plowing garden, moving dirt, spreading gravel, skidding pine logs, having fun). My experience has been good.

Thanks Fletch for your reply. I went ahead and bought the tractor. I mowed with it yesterday with a 5 ft bushhog and the tractor did great. A question if I may though. Does your tractor have chains on the inside of the 3 point arms. Mine has chains on the outerside but none on the inside. It seems to have alittle to much arm sway is all I saw that it might need to be corrected. There are places on the inside of arms that look like there should be chains. A dealor told me this model didn't come out with chains. Just wondering if yours had them on it or not. Thanks

Sam,
My chains are on the inside, to limit sway somewhat. Glad you like the tractor.
