I have a 640 with a loader, would like to put in the double clutch disk setup like in the 650's and up have. Is this just a clutch / pressure plate / throw out bearing swap. Or is there a different input shaft in the transmission for the dual disk setup.

If it were as simple as changing the clutch, all the tractors from that era would have live power. There are 13 different parts in the 5 speed transmissions with live power, and that is in addition to the dual clutch. Only the tractors with the middle digit of 6,(660 for instance) 7, or 8 had live power.

The original question was about going from a single to a double clutch with the idea of getting live pto. Your change was the opposite. It does not matter to you that the live pto drive parts are still in your transmission. In the original post, it matters a great deal that there are NO parts in the transmission to drive the pto from the engine. If you want to help the fellow out, how about swapping transmissions with him?
