How to flush out a Ford Loader?

I have my Ford 19-200 loader off on block and painting it. I opened the drain and 5 gallons of oil and water emptied out into my bucket. It was really dirty.

Now that it is off, can I flush it out with something to clean it up? I have the bucket cylinders off too. I should reinstall and connect all hoses before flushing?

What do I use? how to do I do it? Should I do it?

the only way to really clean out the cylinders is to disassemble them, but if you are not up to
that remove the hoes and fittings from the cylinders and manually cycle them till all oil
is out then fill the cylinder with oil again
and cycle it out till it comes out clean.

I too have a new to me loader and have thought about an oil change along with the repairs it needs. The oil that leaks out of one of the cylinders is very clean, but I wonder about the bottom of the oil sump. There is probably some water there and I am mostly worried about it freezing and damaging the loader frame from expansion, as that is where the oil is stored.

What I am considering is adding a filter to the intake side of the front pump, if I can set it up in the space there is. This should protect the pump from anything large going through it. As far as flushing out the system, I do not intend to. The design of my loader's system puts quite a bit of the oil lower than the pump intake pipe and I think most any problem would sink to the bottom of this sump and hopefully stay there until I drain it off again. If I was going to try flushing, I would talk to the pros at a hydraulic shop to see what they say. Good luck!

If you're using a filter it should come after the pump - best in the return line. Only a screen on the intake. A intake filter makes too much resistance on the suction side and poor performance.

I suppose you are right about it hurting performance, especially when it is cold. It does worry me some that there is nothing holding back the big chunks that might be floating around in the oil from going through the pump. With the oil being stored in the frame of the loader, there is a lot of surface area to get mucked up. I will look into the possibility of adding some sort of screen. Thanks for your insight!
