Found an 861 with a loader but doesn't have power steering. How hard would it be to add power steering and roughly how much would it cost?

I was under the impression that the Jackson Power Steering would only work with a front loader pump. Has anyone done an installation using a belt driven pump?

A belt driven pump will work, the pump would be resticted to the required flow required by the Char-Lynn steering valve. The jackson unit uses the 211-1012 valve requiring 4-8 GPM input, output 14.1 in/3/per rev, also this valve with jackson cylinders will turn full left to full right with 1 turn of the steering wheel. I have done research on this as I am installing power steerin on My Oliver super 55/w loader, the steering gear boxes both use the saginaw recirculating ball systems. Hope this helps

I helped a friend install a jackson unit on an 8N with the biggest pipe loader I've seen and it is amazing. The hi pressure from the pump is divided with 7 GPM going directly to steering and excess to return manifold. The remainder of hi press goes to the loader valve then to the return. The use of quick disconnect at the controls would permit the removal of bucket and upper arms. As long as the front pump and reservior tank there would be no problem. The cost of the unit is about $1300.00 but is removable as no alterations are made to the tractor. Go to www.jacksonpowersteering.com and view the video you will be impressed.

back40, The PS unit does not have any thing to do with a loader, it is a separate unit.

Just saw the Jackson Power steering info. Looks like it's only available on tractors with loaders and if you remove your loader you lose the PS. I'll keep looking.

You could add the Jackson unit and then install a belt driven pump to the engine. I think that Jackson even offers a pump to do just that. Ron-IN
