I just found a 1957 860 for sale, and it is painted blue and grey. the owner said it has been blue ever since he has owned it, he bought it when it was a couple years old in '59 or '60.
he said when he had it sandblasted recently and repainted they could not find any traces of red paint, so he painted it back blue again. I was under the impression that all of hundred series tractors were red.

any way, the owner is asking $5500 new paint, it has a 5 speed, brand new firestone tires on rear, a like new ford 5' mower, and a rear mount blade. The engine has been recently rebuilt,

Any thoughts??
thanks

I bought a 650 that was blue when I found it and had decals saying it was a model 2000. The dealer, however told me the truth about the model, color, and year. Obviously, someone had tried to pass it off as something it wasn't. Your tractor should be red and gray.

Here's a link to my version of why some 800 Fords are blue and gray.

Troy, that sounds like a fair price to me, I gave 3750 for mine about a year ago with a blade mower and loader. It had fresh paint but needed rubber and a battery, and it wasn't overhauled. As far as the color, Ford changed to blue and grey in either 58 or 60. My dad worked for a ford dealer and he said a lot of dealers painted blue and grey because it was less work. They didn't have to take them apart to paint them, as a matter a fact he said they painted everything blue and grey including 9ns unless it was for a company county or state then they were all red or all yellow.
