I have a Ford 3000 that looses water out the vent tube the best I can tell. I fill up radiator before I start to use the tractor and after a couple of hours running is I can see water coming from the vent tube that comes from the top of the radiator at the cap. Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas of the problem. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

I can relate a story that happened to me. I had an old IH tractor here that had set for a few years and the radiator cap had been taken of for some period of time. Well I got the tractor running and had been using it for a year or two when I had a tree limb fall right down on the radiator cap. Had the same problem as you,it would run for a while and then the thing would start loosing water out the vent tube. Got to looking and apparently dirtdaubbers had built a nest in there and it was fine until the tree limb hit it. Then it got enough dirt in the tubes to restrict the flow of water down through the radiator and it would build up pressure from the pump and finally start to push water out the overflow. To make a long story shorter, a clogged radiator will do just what you are describing. I had to pull the radiator and have it "rotted" to clean it. It can happen from corrosion.

Sounds like it may just need a new radiator cap as was already mentioned. The cap should have a pressurized seal that only allows the water to escape when the temperature is so high that the pressure in the radiator rises enough to push past the seal. If the cap is worn out, rusted out, or simply not working correctly it may be allowing the water to seap out regardless of the tractor's temp.

On my 3000 I can't fill the radiator all the way to the top because it will always blow a little out after warmup due to expansion.
Run it some more and see if it stops after a while, if not then maybe you have a bad head gasket.

It might just need a new rad cap. Coolant can blow out if the cap won't hold the pressure it's designed for. If possible, I'd also look at the coolant down the rad cap opening while the tractor is running. If there are many small bubbles then the head gasket may be bad.

What does your temp gauge read while running? Just wondering if it's overheating.

The temp is running in the normal range, if it looses to much water it will rise, that is when I know to add some more water. Thanks again
