Has anyone had any experience using a 3-pt wood splitter using the hydraulic system on a Ford 3000. Any experience and places to purchase please reply. Thanks.

I have used one. The worst problem is the flow rate of the tractors is <5 GPM and that does not make for a quick cycle time. The good thing is they put out 2500 PSI with no question and will split anything you can put in it. The check valve on mine is set for 2500 psi and it trips when something solid hits. Mine is a home made one with some extra plumbing I have added. You may want to check around for some farm sales as they seem to show up there at a decent price. There was a discussion on this topic about a month ago over on the implements board and that would be a better place to get a broad view of places to purchase a splitter or components of one.

It will work on it, but it will be SLOW!
Northern Hyd has them as well as local ag dealers.
Our 4000 Ford has a 5.5 GPM pump and it is slow.
Your 3000 probably has the same pump or one that
does not pump as much. We have a IH 484 12.5 GPM
pump and a JD 2355 21 GPM pump and they work a whole lot quicker with the firewood splitter.
If you can find a used splitter with a bad motor
on it. You can buy one of the pto mounted pumps,
and use it with the splitters hyd fluid tank.
Northern Hyd has the pto mounted pumps.
