Need to tow a Ford 2000 Industrial. Like to know its weight. It has a loader on it (703). Have the manual for the loader it lists a shipping weight of 850lbs. I'll round that up to 1000lbs to be safe. Like to trailer it behind a F250 302 5 speed. Hilly but short ride (25 miles). Any thoughts on that? Could trailer it behind a 83 Jeep Grand Wagoneer (360 automatic).? Just trying to be careful.

Thanks,
Ray

My experience with hauling is I load the tounge of trailer with approx 100lbs of weight, that is when I start loading tractor I watch the rear end of my truck, when it starts getting loaded or starting to go down I stop. this way the trailer carries the load not the truck. Truck is there to tow- Trailer to carry. I see alot of people load a trator all the way to the front of a trailer-Wrong.

Free Bird,
That is the best way to judge relative tongue weighting and the way I have always done it. All it takes is one bad loading job to ruin a bunch of equipment, and maybe your life. A little common sense keeps everybody safer.

You are looking at 4500 pounds plus the trailer weight. Hopefully you have a receiver hitch to pull it by as a bumper hitch would be way over taxed by the weight. The F250 should have no problem pulling it and has the suspension to handle the weight. The Grand Wagoneer is a passenger vehicle, narrower and shorter with springs to ride nice, not haul weight.

The sales brochure for the Ford 2000 Industrial tractor lists its weight as 3085 pounds with hydraulic system and 4 speed. 10 speed is 3299 lbs and Diesel is 200 lbs more.
