I don't know too much about Fords but I have seen a few 5000's around. I notice one that looks like a little bigger 4000 and sits low to the ground and one that has flat-top fenders and different decals and chrome shifter knobs, I think a nicer seat and seems more "row-crop". Is the smaller one considered a utility version of what?
There is one listed in an upcoming auction, a diesel any specific problems or anything to watch out for on these 5000's?

I'm a little late responding, but I have a 5200 that I bought new in 1971. Tractor now has 9000 hrs. on it with just routine servicing. The 5200 is one of the best looking tractors Ford ever built , in my opinion. The only way we could keep her cool was to add a 7000 fan with extra blades and had to replace the power adjust wheel bolts with fine thread bolts to keep the wheels tight. Dealer dynoed her at 83 hp. with stock factory pump settings. In tobacco country , many 5200's wre sold along with a lot of 4200's which were used for cultivating tobacco and other row crops.

The 5000 is a classic, a very good tractor. Even with the 10 speed Select Shift that had problems when they first came out, these got better in the later years that they were made.

The flat deck version of the 5000 series was the 5200. Not too many around, but I think they are sharp tractors.
