I have a 72 4000 3cyl gas needing a good ignition tune up.Is the ford dealer the best place to find all the parts or does anyone have an aftermarket supplier they think is better,or cheaper? I'd like to replace everything from plugs and wires to points and coil. Thanks for any info, this site is great. Lee

I think NAPA has the best quality parts I now the cap and rotor are the best

The New Holland (Ford) dealer would be a good place, they have a tune up kit that includes points, cond., rotor, plugs and gap gauge, another kit includes all the wires. Make sure the plugs are tight or the wires will get blown off the plugs, the coil is shorter than the original but it is correct, make sure the wiring has not been changed because the resistor for the coil was in the main wiring harness.

I haven't bought a lot of parts from New Holland, but prices of basic tune-up parts were right in line with mail order and local parts stores.
