Not familiar with southern Maine but Lovell, Maine has a good mechanic in Don Chandler. 207-925-2904. Call him he could recommend someone closer to your woods. Here is the checklist: but before that...is the wring old or new? How about the ammeter?, relay? From the battery have you checked your power and current flow? Do you have a cheapo test light? Follow the wires with the ignition key on and see where you may be losing it. starter switches go bad. Key switches go bad. 6V systems go bad when the wires are not tight to their contacts and connections. you could have a short somewhere the wire may be loose or broken. Sytematically follow the wires and replace them one at a time if they are old, brittle, or tighten and clean the contacts. 6V systems need to be clean, bright, and tight. As far as 8V goes...it's possible that you could have fried a coil, but unlikely. How old is your coil. And have you checked that the insulator around the wire from your coil going inside the distributor is not worn? Need more information on your points too. Old? new? worn? slipped? and the gap is open? or closed? Need more info to help you problem solve this. Follow your current and see where it bugs out. tom
