I have been looking for a Ford 801 tractor. No luck so far. A friend has a 2600. What do you guys think? How does the 2600 compare to the 801. I will be mowing and plowing snow with it. Thanks for the advice.

Depends on the tractor but odds are that the 2600 would have features that would make it more attractive to you for basic usage. The 800 series is a ~45 hp tractor where the 2600 is a ~35 hp but both will handle a 6 ft bush hog and a 6 ft snow blade. Both weigh about the same so traction is close to equal given equal tires. The 2600 does probably have live PTO where you have to find a 860 to get that feature on the 800 series in the manual transmission models. For mowing, the ability to stop the tractor and keep the mower running is VALUABLE. So in conclusion, both will do the job you are talking about. Both currently have parts readily available (but some of the rumor mills are talking that Case/IH/NH may drop part support for pre 65 tractors) so it depends on you and what tractor catches your fancy first.
