So did you spray cold water on a hot engine? - lots of folks have suggested you might have cracked something critical if you did, and as you washed it after bush-hogging I'd imagine it would have been hot...the fact that is started running oddly right after the wash is also Not A Good Sign, but might just mean water in the fuel. If you have not cracked something, then doing the full bleed procedure seems to be called for, to make sure that fuel is getting to the injectors. Start with draining water from the fuel filter, in case you simply got some water into the fuel tank by spraying too hard on a filler with a crappy seal, which is a lot cheaper than cracked anything to fix ;-). A new fuel filter might be good if it's not been changed recently. You may want to have a battery charger on hand for an extensive bleeding session, as there's lots of cranking without starting. If the 4000 3 cyl diesel is not too dissimilar from the 4500 3 cyl diesel, there's only one "glow plug" (actually called "Automatic thermostart"); it's located in the intake manifold, not in the cylinders as glow plugs are, and is only needed in winter. If it's there at all and actually wired up (not a given for either) turning the key to the left should activate it, but I don't think that's your problem at this time of year. If you have fuel flowing out the injectors when you bleed them and it still won't start, I'd personally also risk a small shot of ether, but there are others who will suggest that any ether at all will destroy your engine. It won't do any good if there isn't fuel getting to the injectors, and overdoing it is hard on the engine.
