ok good i am relieved I saved up for these tires for a long time and this 860 was sitting out in the woods by the river and the old landowner sold it to me for 500 bucks and its frozen stuck. but thats ok because i will work on it over a long time and get it running again and use my 9N for cleaning up my yard. the hood is pushed in and cracked from a tree sitting on it but thats ok too. i will take the hood off and just use it without the hood until i can fix that too. its full of water because i think the river flooded it out a couple of times because water poured out of the rear missing pto when i lifted it and towed it out of there. i think it will be a good tractor to have someday but now its sitting in my driveway and there is not even any use to putting a tarp on it. front tires still hold a little air but are weather cracked. the owner said he parked it there sometime in 1983 and tried fixing the pto but got caught up in other things and eventually could not get to it. the steering wheel is gone and the gauges are cracked and someoen took a bb gun to the fenders and hood too. but when i am done with it it will be a good tractor and i will paint it with the orange paint we get at walmart becuase it will match my rear scoop.

wouldnt the rim size of 28 have more eefect than the width? or does the extra 1.3i nches on the 14.9 make that much difference in the width from the 13.6?

what can be gained from 14.9 vs 13.6 or 12 for that matter? more weight i know when I fill them with antifreeze. but what else does the 14.9 get me in performance? will i be able to pull things beeter with a wider tire? why go wider at all? butif it's like the women around here you have no choice wider is all you git.

I have a 1959 861 with 14.9's on it with spin out wheels and don't have any problems with my back blade or anything else I put behide it. I think they look better with the bigger tires if for no other reason for having them.

It will be ok except if you have 3 point hitch equipment that will come close to the back tires and hit.

Will a 6 foot rear blade work ok? to turn it around if I need to? or did i just have a major and expensive screw up. i wanted 14" tires so I asked for and got 14.9. the only thing on the rear will be a 6 foot blade an a rock rake. and i wont turn it around very often.

Shorten the top link which will tilt the blade forward. Then when you turn the blade it goes closer the ground and misses the tire.

It seems that not all back blades are created equal. In addition to the size of the blade, your ability to turn it 180 degrees will depend on how far back the blade is from the lift arm eyes. On some blades that distance is farther than others.
Also, if your blade can adjust side to side you can move it a little off-center and be able to swivel it one direction and clear the tire, but not the other direction. I have a no-name 6' blade and 13.6 tires on my 850. I can swivel the blade clockwise, but not ccw.

I have an 860 with 12 inch tires and a 6 ft back blade and I can juuust turn the blade around if the height of the lift is right. If you only need to turn around rarely, just unhook in an open space and hook it up on the other side after spinning the swivel 180 degrees.
