Can anyone please help me. My ford 2000 series lift works when not in draft control ok. But when I put it in draft control it will lift about 3 or 4 times then it stops. I pull it out of draft control position and it will lift again. Could the hydraulic fluid be low Im not to sure how to check it. I really could use a good example how to check it and all the help I can get on the problem Im having with the lift. Thank you!

I have the exact same problem with my '55 640. It is usually a result of the draft control linkage being out of adjustment, or a bent draft control yoke from having too heavy an implement attached to the 3PH with the top link in the upper position. (In my case, a heavy 20-disc harrow.)Bending the yoke even slightly will put the draft control out of adjustment. In order to correct this, like Bill said, you will have to remove the lift cover from the tractor. Now contrary to what he said, if your position control is working properly, the cam follower pin is not the culprit; it's not involved in the draft control linkage.

Try doing this: when in draft control, and the lift stops raising when you have the quadrant lever all the way up, try pushing rearwards on the selector lever. If the lift begins to raise properly, your linkage is out of adjustment. There is a simple poor goat farmer fix that has worked for me. For my 640, I cut a small 2x2 about 6.75" long to slip between the front of the selector lever and the tran/hyd flange to hold the selector lever back while in draft control. Works like a charm, but of course you have to remove it whenever you need to use position control. Hopefully it'll work for you until you can get in there and fix the linkage. Keep us posted!

in draft control it will only lift if the lever is at very top..other wise it will lift only if it gets feed back on the draft sensor.. that is what draft control means.. it that depending on how much pressure is being fed to the tractor on the top link..into the toplink rocker to the spring and sensor shaft... that pressure will allow the tractor to pull the "plow" as low as possible depending on feedback on the sensor..

the lever being farther down means the tractor will let the impliment pull very heavy.. the position lever higher up means that less pressure on the top link will cause the lift arms to raise the plow... that way you can see the postion lever in draft mode to allow the tractor to automatically adjust up or down pending on load... so that when the plow started to dig in and the pressure increased the tractor would lift the plow the right amount and go on plow...

if the arms do not lift in with the position lever in the all "up" positon while in the draft mode, you probably have a worn cam follower pin and need to make a slight adjustment to compensate for the worn pin.. this adjustment requires removing the lift cover and is pretty intensive.. if they lift some times, it could be based on the feed back on the top link,,, if you are pushing or pulling on the top link, you can amplify the the lifting of the plow.. but the spring is pretty stout to be pulling against..

good luck bill
