I have restored this tractor to factory condition from the ground up. It looks great but I can not find the frount bumper. It did not have one with it when I purchased it. Can anyone tell me who might have one? Also can any one tell me what the "S" at the end of the model number is for, the dealer in our area can not find a thing on it. the tractor did not have the select-o-matic transmission. Thank you.

The front bumper I am looking for, is a formed body pannel that goes under the grill and from hood side to hood side. One of the old parts books called it a bumper, thats what I am going by. Also, this tractor dose not have a sherman trannie, just a stright 4 speed

No Sherman.....hmmm....shots that theory. Or maybe not. Just because I'm curious, does your transmission have a round hole about 1" diameter in the left side where a Sherman shifter would have been? Might be covered with a plug of some kind when the Sherman was removed, if in fact it ever had one.

There is not any hole in the side of the case. I was told that it could have been a "special" from the factory. This could have been a custom ordered tractor for some reason that I do not see.

The part you describe is usually referred to as a 'Panel Assy., Hood, Front Lower'. These are usually hard to find in good shape. Sometimes these show up on ebay and go for around $150. Many have had a square hole cut out to accommodate a front mounted pump. I also have an 841-S, and it DOES have the Sherman aux transmission.

My understanding from reading the Vintage Ford Tractor Resource abbreviated history page, Sherman trannies were dealer installed options until later in the X01 series when they became factory installed options. I assume that's when the "S" code started showing up.
