I found a rebuilt head and got it back on and running. BUT the engine, with the troddle at the idel the engine run fast, and I have to keep the choke pull out about hafe way to keep it running. It will run at full troddle with choke off .Do you think I might have something hanging in the carb? I have the choke and troddle hooked up in the correct places. The valves set @ 17, This is not my frist engine job, but this high speed really got me. Any help will be greatly put to the test. Thanks

Thanks Chris and Al English, I will spray some wd 40 around the gasket when I crank it tomorrow and see if I can find the leak.

Those are symptoms of a vacuum leak all right. Bet you have a gasket out of place either between the carb and manifold or manifold and head.Spray some carb cleaner around the edges of the gaskets and see if the engine speed changes.Theres your leak.

Hi Ben, Sounds like you have either a problem with the low speed circuit in the carb., or an air leak somewhere between the head and carb.....Al English
