I have a early 70s Ford backhoe that will not start. It was running at idle for about 30 minutes when it stopped running. I may have run it out of fuel, I added fuel and attempted to bleed the injectors by disconnecting the lines at each injector. I got some fuel thru, but not much.I have not changed the filters. How can I check that the fuel pump is OK?

Bleed the air out in the following order:
Filter bleeder should be a 9/16 hex on top of filter head, bleed till clear. crack fitting on tube entering rear of injection pump until flow is clear. 5/16" hex bleed screw on side of injection pump, remove screw, crank tractor with fuel shutoff cable in 'RUN' till fuel pumps nearly to front tire without bubbles. If necessary (and it probably will be in your case) crack injector lines at injector end crank until fuel spurts out, tighten and fire it right up (usually). Have battery charger handy to keep cranking speed up. Good luck!

try bleeding the filters of air before bleeding air at the injectors.

try taking off breather cover and have someone
spray wd-40 while cranking on it.
