While using my 850 and 3pt post hole digger this weekend, the hydrolics would "bounce" when setting the auger into place. Got pretty uncontrolable sometimes.Any ideas?
Thanks, Paul

Assuming you are in position control and not draft control, it sounds as if the draft and position control linkages are worn, loose, and out of adjustment. Start by checking the draft control spring adjustment, which is external. If that does not cure the problem, pull the hitch cover, go through the rest of the adjustments, check the cam follower pin for wear, and swapout the lift cylinder piston seal, unload valve seal, and the rest of the orings and gasket. Do it all, the parts are cheap, and the results are usually substantial.

Assuming you were in "Position" control and not "Draft" control mode (and it sounds like that was right), and that you are not low on fluid:

The I&T FO-20 manual does a pretty good job of describing 3-ph "bobbing" and other problems.

First, with the implement raised, remove the filler cover under the seat and examine the inside of the big cylinder to determine if you are leaking oil out around the seal.
(The warmer the oil is, the thinner it gets, and the more it leaks, so, the bobbing tends to worsen the longer you work.)

I'd go on, but I think you are likely to see oil squirting around.

You need a lift cover gasket, a couple o-rings, and somebody to help you put the lift cover back on, in addition to a new seal and backup seal.
(One seal is a big o-ring, the other used to be leather, but may be made of something else now. My FNH guy still had the leather two years ago.)

Post back if you don't see oil flowing.
