Looking for an electrical schematic for my 1984 Ford 555A backhoe. I cannot seem to get the charging system working despite my alternator rebuild and voltage regulator replacement. Please help! Thanks.

Check for a sensor under the battery tray, it senses the heat of the battery and adjusts the charging.

Thanks for your reply, Scott. I just had the battery out last week because the voltage regulator is hidden behind it inside the battery box. I crawled underneath the box to trace the wires from the regulator, which seemed to run toward the cab somewhere. I didn't see any wires or sensor under the battery box.

Here's some more info on the situation: I just brought back the alternator to where I had it rebuilt yesterday. They tested it and it checked out fine. I believe the connections between the regulator and alternator have been broken somewhere. This is why I'm trying to get a copy of the schematic, because I'm going to have to trace the path of these wires in between with a multimeter and I'd like to have a roadmap. Otherwise, it may be easier to run new wires between the two.

Thanks again for the reply.

Arnie
