FYI
Just bought a 600 Ford and equipment. Ran at idle for about 2 hours loading equip. Got her home and started bush hogging, after about 20 minutes of hard running she started bogging down and died. Turns out, someone had ran fuel line down behind exhaust manifold and was touching it at one point. I re-routed it away from manifold and she runs like a charm now. I wondered why tractor was priced so cheap. I believe they thought there was a serious problem.

Knowledge is power. Lucky you.....you have the knowledge so now you have the power!

Other possible (cheap) problem when that happens is a weak key switch. If it happens again, use a jumper wire to bypass the key switch. If the problem goes away you've found the problem.

Another usual suspect in that case (dies after warming up) is a bad coil. Slightly more expensive but just as simple to fix.

Congratulations. Now, how much did you pay?

could be coil resistor is bad in addition to a bad coil.. engine is running too rich.. or low compression, or vapor locking... does the engine smoke when it starts running bad? does it miss?? does it run bad after hitting bumps,,ie float set too high?? is the fuel line too close to the exhaust manifold?? and getting too hot?? are the plugs clean or carboned up or oil fouled??

Hey Jim. I paid $3,100 for tractor, two used but fair condition 5 foot bushogs, a used boom pole, a 3 point hay spear, a 3 point pond scoop, a good 6 foot JD brand box scraper, a 3 point draw bar and a working old 2 row planter that was horse drawn but converted to 3 point hitch

Deducting what all that stuff sells for around here in used condition, I figure you paid about $1800 for the tractor. A deal in anybody's book!

By the way. After re-routing the fuel line I hauled her out to some land I own and bushhogged about 8 acres. Sage grass from 3 to 6 feet high and thick underneath. Never missed a lick all day. I figure I got about eleven hundred dollars worth of equipment with the tractor so that puts me in her for about $2000.00. So far so good, if she don't blow up I'll be tickled.
