I am writing a book on the Ford 6000 tractors and I want to hear from you. If you have any stories (good or bad), historical info, pictures, or anything else at all connected to this tractor, Drop me an e-mail. This book is intended to set the record straight about this wonderful tractor. Any Info from salesmen, dealers, engineers, or so forth would be greatly appreciated, as I want this book to be accurate. Thanks!

PowerStor hydraulics! Power brakes! 10 speed clutchless shifting! 4 speed PTO! Engine decelerator! Tilt steering wheel! Closed center hydraulics! Styling! Comfort! Truly an interesting tractor for its time and good material for a book. I might have some material of interest to you not to mention years of experience as a Ford Tractor Mechanic. ....come back.

I've owned several 6000 Fords. The only one I have that runs now is a red one that has never been painted blue.
My best 6000 story is the one where I put a 6000 diesel engine in a 1967 Mercury Cougar. I made brackets and adapters to use air condition, power steering, etc. I used an old model 3-speed transmission with overdrive. It would run 80 mph at 2400 rpms. I drove it more than 200,000 miles with only minor repairs, made several cross country trips and enjoyed every mile I drove it. It always got 30 mpg or better and the best mileage I ever checked was 42.9 mpg, which was pretty good miileage back in the 70's.
