3000 gas fuse in dash area?

I have a 3000 gas - having pulled the dash cluster back (removed the 4 screws) I found a 3 amp fuse wired to the harness. It looks factory. The fuse was blown, so I put a new one in, started up the engine and promptly blew the fuse again. I haven't noticed any other electrical problems (lights, fuel gage, etc. work). My question - does anyone know what the 3 amp fuse might be for?

on "c" models

the fuse is fed by the ignition switch..

it powers the (voltage stablizer) to the fuel guage, heat guage, and it also powers oil pressure light and amp light..

if you have the voltage stabilizer model, i would supect it is blowing the fuse first...

on "sos" models the fuse was used for the shift lights...

most all models had a 15 amp on the headlight switch..

My '63 4000 has a fuse to the fuel gauge. When I bought the tractor from a friend, the fuse was only connected at the gauge, the other end was hanging in thin air. When I bought a 12 volt conversion kit from my local New Holland dealer, the wiring loom contained no provision for the fuel gauge. Sorry I couldn't have been of more help.
