I am in desperate times here. I cant find a rebuildable 172. Does anyone know what other engine will bolt to the bell houseing? I can make the other modifcations, but I must use the existing bell houseing.

What is the engine in that also came with a chrysler slant 6? Definitely not a Ford tractor! Sounds like it froze good and solid. My condolences but it makes antifreeze look cheap now doesn't it!!

Im in central kansas.

I am not limited to a ford 4 cy. I know that the chrysler slant 6 also came in this machine (with a different bell housing). So i was looking for all engines, not just fords.

Hi Adam, As Al said a 134 engine will fit , the Diesel will also as will the 192 Industrial engine . Where are you located ? I live in Mass ? I have Blocks available and maybe a head , those are getting tough to find though . Thanks Tony Jacobs

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with the 172 that you have? Short of a busted block, I can't imagine too many things that could render it totally non-rebuildable. Sure, it will cost mucho dinero to do a major rebuild, but swapping engines could turn out to be more expensive in the long run.

Hi Adam, I know a 134 gas will work, and I think a diesel of the same vintage will fit in tractor without major changes. Tony Jacobs is really up on this, hopefully he'll see this and give you more details...Al English
