I'm sure this is a dumb question, but is there an easy way to convert a Ford 600 to verticle exhaust? I'm trying to figure out if the 600 will do a good job as a hayride tractor and a verticle exhaust would be much better for the riders than the "belly exhaust." Thanks for the help...BB

If I remember right , I called akeney tractor (one of the tractor links down south) and they sent me a vertical exhaust and flapper for under $35.00 two years ago. I love the sound of it and it was easy to put on. I recommend painting it first. It was the first thing I did when I got my 660. The sound of that when the tractor is really working is music.

You mite wont the look for a muffler for a Oliver super 55 the outlet comes out the side off the muffler and it costs only about $20.00 and I think the inlet will bolt on to your tractor I am going to try this when I get a chance on mine. Just a idea I had if it will work or note I'm not shire and bring a tape masher with you if you check this out.

You can buy a vertical exhaust off the shelf from your Ford N/H dealer.

Shouldn't be too hard as Ford vertical exhaust came out from under hood edge, rather than thru hood like other tractors.I can't quite picture it in my mind, but if you muffler is mounted on the engine like a workmaster,a couple of elbows and a pipe should do it for short time use,If you have a underside muffler it would get more involved....or mebbe a downturned chrome "hotrod" tip on the pipe is called for.

I had an 800 with horizontal exhaust. Our local muffler shop (with pipe bending equipment) bent a short pipe going straight up off the manifold (and welded a piece to bolt to manifold) and put a small muffler on it with weather cap for $45.00. The accomplished two things: got the exhaust out of my face and eliminated the tractor from vapor locking when cultivating (by getting the exhaust heat away from the carburator and fuel line). It was working great after 2 yrs when I sold it.
