Hi,

The 3600 I've just had delivered has a water leak at the back of the engine. It just seems to appear in the groove between the back of the engine and the transmission, in the groove filled by the edge of the gasket. This happens on both sides, and I can't actually see a definite hole where the water appears.

I can't think why water should appear from this area, as I wouldn't imagine there are any waterways in that bit of the block, even if there is a crack!

Any ideas anyone on

  1. Where the water might be coming from
  2. What I can do about it (I would prefer to uses a sealant to a major re-build!!)

Thanks,

William

Split the tractor at the clutch housing. Replace the two frostplugs at the rear of the block and the one at the rear of the head. Might as well take a hard look at the pilot and release bearings, clutch disc and pressure plate, and rear main and transmission input shaft seals. Not what you wanted to hear, but it's what you need to do. Unless of course it is the rear of the head gasket leaking..... ....

Thanks, Rick.

Indeed not what I wanted to hear - but could any of this be done without splitting? I might look at the plug on the head first, as I guess this might be more easily accessible.

Regards,
William
