I have a 1960 841 anbd I need to fix some oil drips and leaks on it. Two things: the power steering on it needs to have new lines from the pump assembly to the steering housing and it needs gaskets for it.

The second leak (for now) is the hydraluic pump and is there a gasket that is needed where it just below the steering column on the right side? What is that part number? It's a later style pump and not one of those early NAA or mid 50 pumps.

Where do I get the hydraulic lines for the power steering on this 841? My power steering upper tank is round with a large lid. I have seen the other type that has a horizontal tank but mine is a vertical type of tank. It has a leak on it somewhere dripping and I was wondering where I find the gaskets and seals and the bearing seal that attaches to the cast shieve? DOes anyone have a parts number and a phone number for a good source?

LAST and sorry for the long post: Does the hydraulic pump fliud share the same fluid with the transmission housing? Are they the same? and what type of fluid do I need?

I guess I need to know the same for hydraulic fluid for the power steering too.

THANK YOU for your patience but I am new to this and think I can do it but need some numbers to order the right parts.

Hi Rick, Where are you located ? You should have a New Holland dealer near you, They will have the correct original equipment parts you need, along with access to order parts books and service manuals. Did you say your tractor also is a four wheel drive ? If it an Elenco unit I can help you with parts and manuals also. Thanks Tony Jacobs In Mass. 1-413-267-5087

I called my Dad and asked him aout it and he said it has a 4WD front end on it but he coulodn't remember the name of it. He said he was the only one for miles around that had one and everyone back then came over to see it and were jealous. His friends had already gotten tractors and he was about the last one in the three county area to buy a newer Ford and people couldn't beliee he had 4WD. He told me to take care of it and keep it. He gave it to me about a year ago but its still in his barn and I jut am now getting intrested in fixing it up. He isn't going to be around a lot longer and when I told him that someone said it was rare and hard to find he laughed and said: "I could have told you and thats why i gave it to you because I knew you would figure things out and take care of it."

Tony is the guy to talk to about the 4wd, he's a nice guy.

The rest you might as well go to a New Holland dealer (merged with Ford in the 90's, or Ford sold out the ag stuff to NH I guess).

You should be able to get the hydraulic lines at any good machine shop, they will custom build for you, bring the old ones.

You sure have a rare setup there, good for you. Our best to your dad.

Dad is tellimg me it is a 1961 Ford he bought it new in January, 1961 and he says he wont's forget it becasue I was born a week before he got the tractor.

I think he is telling me it is a piston pump and he says that the front end is different on it and double check if hydraulic lines are different because he says it has 4WD.
